The mission exec mentioned in You Might Be Right also told your observer that the nine months in that mission area was not enough time to get to know the entire ministry of that particular church. We agree. (Mission execs only spend a couple of days!) We agree, not because the time was so short, but because of the secrecy surrounding the entire current funding relationship. A person cannot get substantial information. But a person can get public relations appeals from the mission for more personnel and more funds!
A mission HDQ sent a financial investigation team to the area in a few years ago, after some fairly substantial charges of financial mismanagement surfaced, and their report was, to many observers, a white wash. But not from lack of a good attempt. A member of the team who will remain anonymous admitted they simply could not get the information.
The next time a mission appeal comes your way, maybe you should ask some questions, too.
